SEATIDE: WP4 planning meeting 1
25 April 2013
The meeting brought together the participants in work package 4 on knowledge. The purpose was amongst other to discuss the programme of work under the project and the planned field work of participants. Tim Harper reported on the proceedings and outcome of the Chiang Mai kick-off meeting and informed the team members of future collaborators at UNIMIB and other consortium partners.

 

ECAF: Signing of the GIP Constitutive Charter
3 June 2013
Tim Harper participated in the General Meeting at EFEO in Paris, and attended the formal signing, at the Palais de l'Institut, of the Constitutive Charter of the Public Interest Group (Groupement d'intérêt public - GIP) of the European Consortium for Asian Field study (ECAF).

 

SEATIDE: Work and Mobility / Ideas and Mobility
5 October 2013
This informal workshop was organised around a visit from the collaborating group of researchers from Milan and held in the Centre at Magdalene College. The group from University of Milan-Bicocca, led by Silvia Vignato, shared ideas and experiences with their Cambridge collaborators, led by Tim Harper. Participants presented raw material from their fieldwork and discussed possible developments in both understanding and further research.

SEATIDE: WP4 planning meeting 2
18 October 2013
This meeting of the Cambridge team considered in detail the themes and contributors to future workshops to be held under work package 4. It also discussed the work required for producing the project's first analytical framework report.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

1-2 February 2013 – Kick-off meeting

This two-day meeting took place in Chiang Mai where over 30 participants from the collaborating institutions attended. On the agenda were administrative matters and scientific issues - in particular the participation of various researchers in the thematic Work Packages - and a Steering Committee was created for the project. Mr Philippe Keraudren, Deputy Head of Research Unit at the European Commission, attended the meeting and offered insight into the European regulations and policies regarding research funding.

13-14 February 2014 – Research Workshop 1 and plenary session                                              (15-16 February 2014 – CMU 50th anniversary celebratory event)

This two-day event brought together members of all the collaborating work packages and their guest speakers for a series of research workshops. Individual workshops took place on day one, where the results of initial field research conducted under the project were presented. Tomas Larsson organised a WP4 workshop on the topic of 'New models of development and conservation in Southeast Asia'. The second day was dedicated to a plenary session involving all SEATIDE members and more than fifty researchers and guests.

SEATIDE: WP4 planning meeting 3
4 March 2014
The schedule of workshops was significantly revised at the Chiang Mai meeting of the Seatide network. The Cambridge group met to discuss the revised plan and who would participate in the various research and dissemination workshops. Also for discussion were deliverables, the reports for submission in May, and who would contribute working papers in October/November.

 

Brussels
27-28 April
A meeting of work package leaders to discuss the content and format of online papers, preparations for dissemination workshops in Penang and Hanoi, the Seatide website and cross-thematic issues between work packages. The WP leaders will also meet with the Indonesian Ambassador about hosting the 3rd dissemination workshop in 2015 at the Indonesian Embassy.

 

Penang, Malaysia 
18-20 September 2014
Dynamics of Integration and Dilemmas of Divergence in Contemporary Southeast Asia
This three-day event was hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Members of the collaborating work packages participated in group discussions on the theme of the workshop. Papers presented provided a starting point in the discussion and were an example of the output to be delivered online.
