The project History and Sustainability is run by Paul Warde. Click on his name to see his personal web-pages and research. Recent publications include Energy consumption in England and Wales, 1560-2000 (CNR, 2007), and Ecology, economy and state formation in early modern Germany (Cambridge University Press, 2006).

In 2005-6, Sverker Sörlin, Professor of Environmental History at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, was resident for a year as a visitor to the Centre for History and Economics and Pembroke College. He continues to collaborate with the new History and Sustainability project and is active in IHOPE (Integrated History and Future of People on Earth).

Sverker Sörlin and Paul Warde ran the ‘Uses of Environmental History’ project, culminating in a conference held in Cambridge in January 2006. A co-edited volume on this theme, Nature’s End. History and the Environment will be forthcoming from Palgrave in 2008.
