This website provides information and links regarding a project on the past, present and future of Environmental History, run by Sverker Sörlin and Paul Warde at the University of Cambridge. The study of environmental history, understood as a discrete discipline, is around a generation old, and through this project we aim to provide some space to reflect on its achievements, diversity, and direction, especially in its varied national, international and continental contexts. The project runs in parallel with the Documenting Environmental Change website that provides numerous links and a research register on current practice around the globe on the study of historical environmental change. A series of meetings is being held over the year 2004-5 in Cambridge to promote discussion, produce working papers, and with the goal of a major edited publication to provide apposite reflection on the field, and pointers for future teaching and research. The project is based at the Centre for History and Economics, and is part of the Common Security Forum. We are grateful to the Rockefeller Foundation for their generous support of this project.
