Vegetation and Landscape History of the Hungarian Plain

Zsolt Molnar's research focuses on historical landscape ecology in general, and in particular of the Great Hungarian Plain, the vegetation of Hungary, coarse scale patterns, vegetation and habitat mapping methods, habitat classifications for different purposes, and possible management of protected areas based on historical land-use data. He is currently engaged in research projects on the landscape history of the Great Hungarian Plain (National Science Foundation, 1998-2001), habitat mapping of the Kiskunsag region (Kiskunsag National Park, 1996-2000), habitat surveys and landscape historical studies for Nation parks (1994-), and the isolation of habitat islands in a steppe landscape (National Science Foundation, 1995-8)
