Julia Fine is pursuing an MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies at Christ's College under the supervision of Professor Sujit Sivasundaram. She completed an AB in History & Literature at Harvard College in 2019. Her undergraduate thesis explored how food represented a biopolitical tool of imperialism in 19th-century India.
For her MPhil research, Julia is investigating the intertwined environmental and labour histories of commodity production in Eastern India, with a particular focus on salt in the 18th and 19th centuries.
